Who These Lessons Are For
Hi, I'm Chris Livingstone.
I've been teaching drums for more than 25 years and have worked with students ranging from complete beginners to advanced players pursuing personal goals, performances, and graded examinations.
Alongside teaching, I've performed at an international championship level and held leadership roles in music education, helping develop music programs and support the professional development of music teachers.
Today I focus on helping adults and motivated teens build strong foundations, effective practice habits, and lasting musical confidence through a clear, structured approach to learning.

I went from a complete beginner to playing regularly at my church. I gained the confidence and skills to perform live in a relatively short amount of time.

Learning drums shouldn't feel overwhelming.
Lessons combine a clear curriculum with individualized guidance based on each student's goals, experience, and progress.
Beginners develop strong foundations through a structured learning path, while more experienced students receive increasingly personalized instruction to help them move toward their specific goals.
You’ll leave each session with:
Clear practice priorities
Specific technical and musical goals
A better understanding of what to work on and why
Electronic lesson notes and practice resources
A plan for making meaningful progress between lessons
Rather than jumping randomly from topic to topic, lessons are designed to build skills step by step, helping students develop confidence, consistency, and long-term musical independence.
Whether your goal is playing for enjoyment, developing stronger technique, performing with confidence, or preparing for graded examinations, lessons are designed to provide a clear path forward.
A Thoughtful, Structured Approach
Lessons take place in my private home studio in Ogden — a dedicated teaching space designed for quiet, focused learning.
I teach primarily using low-volume drums and pads, which allows us to communicate clearly during lessons without ear protection and stay focused on technique, sound, timing and control.
The studio is designed to create a calm learning environment where students can comfortably develop skills, play along with music, and build confidence behind the kit.
